Title: Heartaches By The Number

Artist: Ray Price

Album: Originally released as a single.

Year Released: 1959

What It Is: One of the quintessential songs of country music. That’s what it is.

Riffage / Hookage: You probably already know the chorus, so yeah, the hook is there. Even in country, the hook mattered!

Cowbell?: No. A fiddle and steel guitar, though. That counts for somethin’!

Words Of Wisdom: “With hopeful heart I waited,
For your…knock on the door,
I waited but you must have lost your way.

Ouch man, that’s cold.

Mixology Report: Unfortunately, classic country has a bad rep amongst some folks. But the songwriting is strong. Cliches were formed out of songs like this, but some denigrate them because of the clichés.

For The Good Of The Order: Ray Price needs a hug!

BTW – This, I believe, will be the final beta. Next week(end), perhaps, I’ll take Beta off – clean up the older posts and then send an email that you can link away!
